Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde er als Bullenbei\u00dfer und f\u00fcr Hundek\u00e4mpfe gez\u00fcchtet. Im Laufe des 19. Jahrhunderts etablierte er sich als <a href=\"\/magazin\/hunde\/familienhund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Familienhund<\/a> und wurde zudem als <a href=\"\/magazin\/hunde\/wachhund-schutzhund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wachhund<\/a> und zur Ungezieferjagd genutzt. Die Zucht des Bullterriers wurde in den Neunziger Jahren zeitweise verboten und die Haltungsbedingungen stark eingeschr\u00e4nkt. Charakteristisch sind sein \u201edownface\u201c und der eierf\u00f6rmige Kopf.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"groesse\">Gr\u00f6\u00dfe<\/h3>\n<p>Sowohl R\u00fcden, als auch H\u00fcndinnen erreichen eine Gr\u00f6\u00dfe von ca. 50 cm.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"gewicht\">Gewicht<\/h3>\n<p>Das Gewicht liegt bei den meisten Bullterriern zwischen 24 und 30kg.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"fellfarben-und-laenge\">Fellfarben und \u2013l\u00e4nge<\/h3>\n<p>Das Fell des Bullterriers ist kurz und glatt und in der Regel wei\u00df oder schwarz-wei\u00df. Er kann eigensinnig und hartn\u00e4ckig sein, Fremden gegen\u00fcber ist er misstrauisch. Trotzdem ist er sehr ausgeglichen und kaum aus der Ruhe zu bringen. Er ist menschenfreundlich und reagiert auch auf Trubel und viele Menschen (z.B. in der Stadt) gelassen.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"achtung-bei-der-haltung-in-vielen-bundeslaendern-ein-verbotener-kampfhund\">Achtung bei der Haltung: in vielen Bundesl\u00e4ndern ein verbotener Kampfhund<\/h2>\n<p>Trotz seines schlechten Images, ist der Bullterrier ein guter Familienhund. Er mag lange Spazierg\u00e4nge und ist sehr agil und verspielt. In den meisten Bundesl\u00e4ndern wird diese Rasse auf der Liste der gef\u00e4hrlichen Hunderassen gef\u00fchrt und die Haltung ist stark eingeschr\u00e4nkt oder sogar ganz verboten. Eine Einfuhr nach Deutschland ist komplett verboten.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"erziehung-ohne-unsicherheit\">Erziehung ohne Unsicherheit<\/h2>\n<p>Der Bullterrier braucht von Anfang an eine <a href=\"\/magazin\/hunde\/hundeerziehung-wichtig-fuer-mensch-und-hund\/\">konsequente Erziehung<\/a> und ist auf keinen Fall ein geeigneter Hund f\u00fcr Anf\u00e4nger. Signalisiert sein Besitzer ihm Unsicherheit, wird er&nbsp;dies ausnutzen und versuchen selbst zum Rudelf\u00fchrer zu werden. Bei der Erziehung dieser Rasse sind also eine starke Hand und viel Durchsetzungsverm\u00f6gen gefordert. Da er auf fremde Hunde misstrauisch und aufbrausend reagieren kann, sollte er von klein auf gut <a href=\"\/magazin\/hunde\/die-sozialisierung-beim-hund\/\">sozialisiert<\/a> werden.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"pflege-und-gesundheit\">Pflege und Gesundheit<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"fellpflege\">Fellpflege<\/h3>\n<p>Das Fell des Bullterriers ben\u00f6tigt keine besondere Pflege. Dennoch sollte er regelm\u00e4\u00dfig <a href=\"\/hund\/pflege-hygieneartikel\/fellpflege\/\">geb\u00fcrstet<\/a> werden, um abgestorbene Haare zu entfernen.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"rassetypische-krankheiten\">Rassetypische Krankheiten<\/h3>\n<p>Rassetypische Krankheiten gibt es beim Bullterrier nicht.
