\"Heuration\"

<\/div><\/p>\n

Der letzte Sommer war trocken, viel zu trocken. Er war so trocken, dass das Gras schlecht oder gar nicht mehr wuchs. Und weil die Weiden kein Futter mehr für die Pferde hergaben, musste das wenige Heu, das geerntet werden konnte, auch noch früh im Jahr verfüttert werden. Seit dem letzten Winter gibt es kaum einen Pferdehalter, der dieses Problem nicht zumindest von Pferdefreunden – oft aber auch aus dem eigenen Stall – kennt: das Heu ist knapp. Aber wie kann man die Heuration sinnvoll verbessern?<\/p>\n

Welche Heuration braucht mein Pferd?<\/h2>\n

In diesem Winter gab es Pferdebesitzer, die importierten ganze LKW mit Heuballen aus Polen und anderen Ländern. Aber das ist natürlich keine Option für Betriebe, die so große Mengen weder brauchen noch lagern können. Für sie oder für Pferdebesitzer, die selbst nur Einsteller sind, stellt sich deshalb die Frage, wie viel Heu sie wirklich pro Pferd brauchen und wie sie die Heuration verbessern können. Als Faustregel gilt, dass ein Pferd pro 100 Kilo Körpergewicht mindestens 1,5 Kilo Raufutter täglich<\/strong> braucht, das wären bei einem Warmblüter, der 600 Kilogramm wiegt mindestens 9 Kilo Heu pro Tag<\/strong>. Dabei müssen natürlich immer Alter deines Pferdes, Rasse und Arbeitsleistung beachtet werden. Junge Pferde im Wachstum und tragende Stuten benötigen ebenfalls mehr<\/strong>. Die Heuration selbst kannst du am besten mit Heunetzen oder speziellen Raufen, aus denen die Pferde langsam fressen müssen, füttern. Das verlängert die Fresszeiten und verringert dadurch die Zeiten, in denen dein Pferd nichts zu fressen hat. Zu lange Zeiten ohne Futter sind nämlich immer schädlich<\/strong> für dein Pferd. Es kann Magengeschwüre<\/strong> bekommen.<\/p>\n

Heulage und Silage<\/h2>\n

Heu ist das Pferdefutter schlechthin. Es wird bei der Heuernte gewonnen und besteht aus dem ersten oder zweiten Grasschnitt<\/strong>. Heu wird getrocknet, bevor es gepresst wird und sollte einen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt von etwa 18 – 20%<\/strong> haben. Gutes Heu sollte nicht staubig<\/strong> sein. Heulage und Silage hingegen werden etwas feuchter eingefahren und in Folie gewickelt. Heulage hat mehr als 50 % Trockensubstanz und einen Feuchtigkeitsgehalt von 40-50%<\/strong>. Silage enthält etwa 65 % Feuchtigkeit<\/strong> und wird nach der Ernte mit Milchsäurebakterien geimpft<\/strong>. Die Bakterien wandeln den Zucker in Säure um, wodurch die Silage haltbar<\/strong> wird. Durch die Milchsäurebakterien riecht die Silage säuerlich<\/strong>. Bei der Herstellung, Lagerung und Fütterung von Silage muss unbedingt darauf geachtet werden, dass die Folie der Ballen nicht beschädigt wird, da das Futter sonst verdirbt. Außerdem besteht die Gefahr der gefürchteten Botulismuserkrankun<\/strong>g durch versehentlich eingewickelte und verendete Tiere, die leider tödlich verläuft. Heulage und Silage können eine Heuration prinzipiell ersetzen – sofern das Pferd Heulage oder Silage verträgt. 1,5 – 2 Kilogramm Heulage können ein Kilogramm Heu ersetzen. Für Pferde mit Magen-und-Darmerkrankungen<\/strong> ist Silage ebenso wie Heulage nicht geeignet<\/strong>. Und auch bei Pferden ohne Vorerkrankungen besteht das Risiko der Übersäuerung<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Luzerne<\/h2>\n

Luzerne gehört zu den sogenannten Leguminosen<\/strong> und ist eine Futterpflanze<\/strong>. Die Luzerne ist auch als Alfalfa oder Ewiger Klee<\/strong> bekannt. Luzerne hat viel Struktur und enthält wenig Zucker und Stärke<\/strong>, deshalb eignet sie sich dazu, eine Raufutterration zu verbessern. Durch ihren hohen Eiweißgehalt können Pferde mit hohem Energiebedarf mit Luzerne aufgefüttert werden. Allerdings sollte beachtet werden, dass Luzerne viel Calcium<\/strong> enthält, sodass sich das Calcium-Phosphor-Verhältnis<\/strong> ungünstig verschieben kann – ideal ist ein Verhältnis von 1:1 bis 3:1<\/strong>. Durch ein Zuviel an Calcium wird aber die Aufnahme einiger Vitamine und Spurenelemente behindert. Neuere Untersuchungen lassen zudem den Verdacht aufkommen, Luzerne könne zu Schäden an der Magenschleimhaut führen, weshalb sie zumindest mit Bedacht gefüttert<\/strong> werden sollte. Luzerne gibt es nicht nur als Luzerneheu, sondern auch als getrocknete und gepresste Heucobs. Diese müssen in der Regel recht lange eingeweicht<\/strong> werden.<\/p>\n

Heucobs<\/h2>\n

Heucobs sind getrocknetes Heu in Pelletform<\/strong>. Du solltest Heucobs immer vor dem Füttern einweichen<\/strong> – egal, was auf der Packung steht. Heucobs quellen auf und können sonst Schlundverstopfungen<\/strong> entstehen lassen. Mit den Heucobs lässt sich eine Heuration sinnvoll ergänzen, bei alten und zahnkranken Pferden muss sie diese oft sogar ersetzen. Heucobs werden aus Heu hergestellt – im Gegensatz dazu gibt es auch Grascobs<\/strong>, die aus Gras gewonnen werden. Grascobs haben einen höheren Eiweißanteil<\/strong> und enthalten weniger Rohfaser<\/strong>. Sie sind also eher für Pferde mit erhöhtem Eiweißbedarf geeignet. Eingeweicht sollten wirklich alle werden. Zwischen den Sorten gibt es aber deutliche Unterschiede, was die Einweichzeit angeht. Wenn du kein warmes Wasser am Stall hast oder deinem Pferd selbst etwas zufüttern möchtest, ohne allzu lange zu warten, solltest du darauf achten, dass die Cobs die du verfütterst nicht nur schnell aufweichen, sondern auch mit kalten Wasser aufquellen. Wenn du es eilig hast, dann könnten Fasern oder Flakes eine Alternative<\/strong> sein. Dass Heucobs schnell gefressen werden, eignen sich sich eigentlich nur zur Ergänzung<\/strong>, nicht zum vollständigen Ersatz der Heuration. Eine Ausnahme sind Pferde, die aufgrund von Zahnerkrankungen kein Heu mehr fressen können.<\/p>\n

Stroh: Welches Stroh und wieviel?<\/h2>\n

Stroh ist eher nährstoffarm<\/strong> und enthält viel Rohfaser (Lignin)<\/strong>. Durch den hohen Rohfaseranteil darf es nur begrenzt verfüttert<\/strong> werden. Mehr als 0,5 – 1 Kilogramm pro 100 Kilogramm Körpergewicht sollten nicht verfüttert werden (Quelle: Bender, Ingolf: Pferdehaltung und Fütterung, Kosmos, 2015). Dennoch ist gutes Getreidestroh durchaus ein ernstzunehmendes Pferdefutter. Es ist eiweißarm<\/strong> und enthält neben viel Rohfaser beispielsweise auch Zink<\/strong>. Drei Kilogramm Haferstroh haben etwa so viel Energie wie ein Kilo Hafer (16 Megajoule). Halmverkürzer und Herbizide<\/strong> belasten allerdings das Stroh oft stark – meist wird es nicht als Futtermittel, sondern als „Rest“ der Getreideernte angesehen. Gutes Futterstroh muss natürlich eine hohe Qualität<\/strong> besitzen. Besonders geeignet für Pferde als Futter ist Haferstroh<\/strong>. Mit gutem Haferstroh lässt sich eine Heuration sinnvoll ergänzen.<\/p>\n
